Ryan & Andre Win at UCF – March 2012…
Congratulations to BlueWave MMA fighters Ryan David and Andre Goncalves who were both victorious at ‘UCF: Lords of the Cage’ in Colchester on Sat 3rd March 2012.
Ryan was defending his welterweight semi-pro title against Joe Harding and positionaly dominated all three rounds with some great wrestling, judo and cage work earning a unanimous decision win from the Judges. Andre Goncalves made very short work of Jack Pain, landing some hard punches early, scoring the takedown, working to the back and submitting his opponent by rear naked choke in 2m 45s of the first round.
English Open 2011 Medals…
A team of 20 club members competed at the 2011 English BJJ Open held at the Dartford Judo Center of Excellence on November 26/27th.
Established over the past few years as the biggest BJJ competition in the UK, the team fought well, some in brackets of over 30 competitors.
Congratulations to all who competed and represented BlueWave Martial Arts and to the following club members who took home medals:
- Maz Upson: GOLD (Womens White Belt Adult -53Kg)
- Chad Malley: BRONZE (Mens Purple Belt Masters -88Kg) & BRONZE (Mens Purple Absolute)
- Josh Palmer: BRONZE (Mens Purple Adult -100Kg)
Lee Doski Wins Main Event at BCFA…
BlueWave MMA Coach Lee Doski chalked up another in the main event at BCFA in Ipswich.
Lee defeated Trevor Soko by arm bar early in the first round. Grabbing a quick takedown against the cage, Lee passed the half guard and moved to mount where he quickly transitioned to an s-mount and latched on a very tight submission, causing his opponent to tap out.
