On Saturday 15th June, the team headed down to Norwich to compete at UCMMA Contenders.

There were five fantastic performances which ended with four wins and a decision loss for the club:

- Darren Kirk dominated with some impressive takedowns to win comprehensively via decision.
- Marcin Porchiecha ground out a split decision win showing some real tenacity in his submission defence.
- Filip Sieminski scored with throws and trips to win a decsion and go 2-0 as an amateur.
- Marcin Wadya absorbed some huge leg kicks and showed true heart in a decision loss in his amateur debut.
- Simon Matthews engaged in some great stand-up to take a well earned decision win.

Jack Lister walked away from the British open last month with another Gold medal in the blue belt -88.4Kg class. He submitted all five of his opponents (four leg locks and one arm-bar).

Following another impressive performance, Jack was awarded his purple belt by Lee Catling.

All the team at BlueWave would like to congratulate Jack on a fantastic achievement and we look forward to seeing him tear it up in his new division.

Blue Wave has joined Gracie Barra Essex under the guidance of British BJJ black belt Lee Catling!

BlueWave BJJ blue belt and resident power-lifting guru Jack Lister took to the mat in the Midlands Open last month. He defeated 6 opponents in both the weight and absolute categories, all by submission with no fight lasting longer than 3 minutes! Outstanding work!

Andre Goncalves added another impressive win to his record last Saturday in Norwich.

Andre won by submission in just 58 seconds narrowly missing the current club record of 57 seconds by Jack Gibbs!

After a slick ankle pick take-down, Andre moved to the back position securing a body triangle. After a few strikes he patiently set up an arm-triangle finish inside the first minute.

We are very pleased to welcome Rwnadan Judo 2012 Olympic competitor Yannick Fred Sekamana to train with our team at our Bury St Edmunds venue.

Yannick has been attending our Sunday 9:00am Judo/BJJ sessions (Led by former GB Judo Olympian Danny Kingston) in preparation for the 2012 London Olympics which begin next week.

We wish Yannick the best of luck in the competition!

Our Sunday blend of Judo and BJJ has now moved to an earlier time slot of 09:00am – 10:30am.

Congratulations to BlueWave MMA fighters Ryan David and Andre Goncalves who were both victorious at ‘UCF: Lords of the Cage’ in Colchester on Sat 3rd March 2012.

Ryan was defending his welterweight semi-pro title against Joe Harding and positionaly dominated all three rounds with some great wrestling, judo and cage work earning a unanimous decision win from the Judges. Andre Goncalves made very short work of Jack Pain, landing some hard punches early, scoring the takedown, working to the back and submitting his opponent by rear naked choke in 2m 45s of the first round.
