Ryan & Andre Win at UCF – March 2012…

Congratulations to BlueWave MMA fighters Ryan David and Andre Goncalves who were both victorious at ‘UCF: Lords of the Cage’ in Colchester on Sat 3rd March 2012.

Ryan was defending his welterweight semi-pro title against Joe Harding and positionaly dominated all three rounds with some great wrestling, judo and cage work earning a unanimous decision win from the Judges. Andre Goncalves made very short work of Jack Pain, landing some hard punches early, scoring the takedown, working to the back and submitting his opponent by rear naked choke in 2m 45s of the first round.

English Open 2011 Medals…

A team of 20 club members competed at the 2011 English BJJ Open held at the Dartford Judo Center of Excellence on November 26/27th.

Established over the past few years as the biggest BJJ competition in the UK, the team fought well, some in brackets of over 30 competitors.

Congratulations to all who competed and represented BlueWave Martial Arts and to the following club members who took home medals:

- Maz Upson: GOLD (Womens White Belt Adult -53Kg)
- Chad Malley: BRONZE (Mens Purple Belt Masters -88Kg) & BRONZE (Mens Purple Absolute)
- Josh Palmer: BRONZE (Mens Purple Adult -100Kg)

Our great Defensive tactics classes will soon be hitting Bury St Edmunds! Our defensive tactics system has been developed in conjunction with some of the most respected law enforcement self defence trainers in the U.K.

They’ll be taking place at both Hardwick Middle School & Abbeycroft Leisure Center so stay tuned for dates and times!

BJJ Grading & BBQ – September…

We are holding our first ever BlueWave BJJ grading session! This is not like a traditional martial arts grading where students will test for specific belts, it’s a large get-together of students from several branches of Carlson Gracie BJJ Team. There wil be some technique tought followed by friendly competition matches from some students before new belts and stripes may be awarded. Following this we will all be attending a BQQ held in Ipswich, to which all students are invited.

The grading will be held on Saturday September 10th in Bury St Edmunds. (Time TBC) – There is normaly no cost for gradings though as there are some small expenses to cover we are requesting that all students contribute £10 towards the session.

NEW Sat BJJ Classes – Ipswich…

There will be new Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes on Saturday mornings starting on 20th August.

10:30 – 11:30 Kids Session.

BlueWave would like to send our congratulations to black belt Dickie Martin (Senior Instructor CG London) and purple belt Dave Broughton (Head Instructor CG Tonbridge) for both fighting their way to gold medals at the 2011 INTERNACIONAL MASTERS E SÊNIORS CHAMPIONSHIP in Rio de Janiero, Brazil.

Lee Doski Wins Main Event at BCFA…

BlueWave MMA Coach Lee Doski chalked up another in the main event at BCFA in Ipswich.

Lee defeated Trevor Soko by arm bar early in the first round. Grabbing a quick takedown against the cage, Lee passed the half guard and moved to mount where he quickly transitioned to an s-mount and latched on a very tight submission, causing his opponent to tap out.
